Position Description
The Publicity, Sales, and Marketing Departments are excited to offer a paid, hybrid internship for those passionate about books and eager to learn more about publishing. Interns will be responsible for curating title metadata, researching regional bookstores, generating weekly reports, and helping with other aspects of general departmental organization. There will also be an opportunity to draft copy used for press materials and assist in pitching titles to select media. Interns can expect to learn how a book is launched into the world, from its early stages as a galley to its appearance on bookstore shelves and in magazine pages.
Qualifications
Interns must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be task-oriented with an ability to start and finish projects assigned to them with a high level of personal organization. Interns should have an ability and willingness to tackle any task at hand, and an interest in the publishing industry, preferably in marketing, sales, and/or publicity.
Time Period and Compensation
The intern will work three days a week for approximately four months (May – August) and will be paid $15 an hour. For the Sumer 2024 season, this internship will be a hybrid work schedule, with 2 days in-person at our New York City offices.
