Dock Hands are responsible for engaging the public in on-water programming on the Independence Seaport’s Waterfront. This includes teaching basic boating safety and skills to the public during Paddle Penn’s Landing, small boat rentals, special events such as water clean-ups, environmental educational opportunities, and for children and teens in many different summer camp groups. Required on-water training occurs late-April.
Dock Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that proper safety protocol and visitor assistance are provided during waterfront programming, including Paddle Penn’s Landing, small boat rentals, special events and summer camp. Dock Supervisors are responsible for monitoring and coaching Dock Hands and enforcing all Waterfront policies and procedures.
