Suncrest is seeking a volunteer with a qualified pet of their own, to make scheduled visits to our patients. During the visit, your calm, and quiet pet will be held, cuddled, and talked to. Most hospice patients are unable care for their pets, and desperately miss them. Our 11th Hour volunteers provide a compassionate presence and sense of comfort to your patients who are imminently dying and prefer not to be left alone. Provide support in an on-call basis to patients that are actively dying. Visits often involve just sitting quietly and holding a hand, softly reading poetry or scripture, if appropriate, or providing a calming presence so people do not feel alone. Special training is provided to ensure volunteers feel knowledgeable and comfortable in their assignments.
