Love typography and want to contribute to open-source fonts? If so, we’ve got just the opportunity!We in the Font Evolution team are responsible for the production of Adobe Originals typefaces as well as the development of the Adobe Font Development Kit for OpenType (AFDKO). We also chip in on a variety of other projects inside and outside of Adobe. We’re looking for an intern to do font development work on color font projects in summer 2021.What you will do:Work on production for two open-source projects in the OpenType-SVG color font format, using Python scripting and the AFDKO. These projects will be hosted on GitHub. One of the projects will be an update to Adobe’s OT-SVG version of Noto emoji, and the other will be a test of potential new features for working with OT-SVG fonts.What you need to succeed:Experience coding in Python.Experience working with font design tools, especially Glyphs or RoboFont.Bonus points for:Experience with GitHub.Literacy in more than one writing system.Experience with open-source font-related projects, such as the AFDKO, Font Bakery, or fontTools.
