Behind the Book works in NYC public schools, providing rich, innovative literacy programs to Title 1 classrooms. Working with students from Pre-K to 12th grades, Behind the Book identifies culturally responsive books and partners with teachers to create immersive programs that bring the authors of those books into classrooms. Through a series of workshops, authors discuss their book and teach a genre of writing, encouraging students to see themselves as readers and writers.
