Description:Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Co-Op candidate to join our Immunopharmacology Core group within the Non Clinical Drug Safety (NDS) department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The Immunopharmacology Core group conducts immunotoxicology related in vitro assessments to characterize the safety profile for BI pipeline products, including adeno-associate virus (AAV)-based therapeutics. As a Co-Op, you will help advance our understanding of AAV immune responses to predict potential toxicity. In addition, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) to characterize immune safety aspects of immunogenicity. Duties & Responsibilities:· Assist with immune based assay development, troubleshooting, and sample analysis by flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot and potentially other techniques to support preclinical safety assessment of AA-based therapeutics.· Conduct an independent research project to explore the impact of AAV on adaptive immune responses.· Communicate experimental data and project progress to mentor, fellow scientists and multidisciplinary project teams in the form of written reports and presentations.· Comply with applicable regulations, perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, and maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and corporate policies. Requirements:· Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.· Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.· Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).· Major must be related to the field of internship. Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities: · Desirable to have background knowledge in area of innate and adaptive immunity, gene therapy and/or AAV platforms. · Desirable to have previous experience in a cell/molecular biology, immunology or virology lab and a plus to have hands-on experience with fundamental immunology laboratory techniques and assays, including cell culture, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, ELISA-MSD platform, PBMC isolation, ELISpot and automation.· Experience developing immune related cell based assays a plus.· Previous experience in the biopharmaceutical and/or biotech industry is a plus.· Proficiency with computers and data analysis software including Microsoft Office Suite, FACSDiva and FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, MSD Discovery Workbench is a plus.· Excellent written and verbal communication skills including efficient record keeping are required.· Strong ability to multi-task and willingness to work effectively in highly collaborative and diverse environment.
