The Career Development Center at Rutgers University Newark is seeking a Graduate Hourly to support the organization development efforts of the office.
The Graduate Hourly reports to the Associate Director for Community Engagement and will support efforts to identity and target community organizations that will be appropriate recruiting partners for the Career Development Center (CDC), which supports all undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni for the Newark campus.
The Graduate Hourly’s main responsibilities will be to support various outreach campaigns to research, identify and target organizations that are appropriate for recruiting Rutgers Newark students for internships, volunteer, research, internships and full- time opportunities. The Graduate Hourly will research organizations using the internet, online databases and trade organization public records to identify appropriate contacts. The Graduate Hourly will approve employers and jobs in the department’s career services platform using the office’s criteria. The Graduate Hourly will also provide support in further developing the Rutgers-Newark Internship review process (updating the application).
Additional projects include, outreach to various student groups on campus to market and promote appropriate events and opportunities, staffing drop-in hours (resume/cover letter reviews and career related questions), supporting office programs (particularly industry panel, the career fairs, and career and professional development workshops in collaboration with other campus offices), assisting with the team of student Career Peers (supporting ongoing training, ensuring Career Peers consistently meet CDC professional standards) and supporting surveys for the office. The Graduate Hourly must act as a role model to students through the support and communication of the Career Development Center mission and through positive, acceptable personal behavior.
Ideally the candidate should be available to begin working during Spring 2021, working through the summer, and remain with the office until Spring 2022.
