The Arts Marketing Specialist is engaged in and responsible for the execution of the strategic marketing plan for the Chautauqua Opera Company and the Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) with additional contributions to the marketing and communication efforts across the arts and other areas. Core responsibilities include being the premier arts marketing specialist on staff, development, and execution of sales and communications materials, and collateral to meet and exceed designated revenue goals, and enhance patron engagement. This position will report year-round to the Director of Marketing & Analytics, and to the Chautauqua Theater Company and Chautauqua Opera Company during the Summer Assembly season. About Your DayResponsible for executing email marketing (content development, patron funnels, delivery, monitoring) for the Chautauqua Theater Company and the Chautauqua Opera Company in coordination with the wider Chautauqua Institution email marketing strategy and goals. In the fall, winter, and spring months, the specialist will support overall email and digital marketing efforts for the Institution.Develop and post content and monitor activity on the Chautauqua Theater Company and Chautauqua Opera Company Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, including managing social ads for the performing arts.Coordinate content development for CTC and Chautauqua Opera website landing pages and event information. Update appropriate website pages with event information, stories, and other content as needed.Assist in the development of promotional programs, packages, and pricing strategies to meet revenue goals.Content development for digital ads for the performing arts, including creating, updating, and monitoring Google and social ads.Coordinate the creation of the season program, program inserts and posters, special event flyers for all CTC and Chautauqua Opera activity, including MainStage productions, New Play Workshops, Brown Bags, recitals, Opera Invasions, and other special events.In all content development, enforce strict adherence to and alignment with Institution editorial and graphics standards and style in consultation with Marketing and Communications colleagues.Cultivate relationships with local and national press/media contacts in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications. Relationship management will take place in Chautauqua’s Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) System as early as Fall 2021. Liaise with and coordinate activities with community volunteer groups Friends of the CTC and Chautauqua Opera Guild.Manage advertising for CTC and Chautauqua Opera in The Chautauquan Daily.Coordinate and manage photo calls and other photoshoots.Oversee the Bratton Theater/Norton Hall Ticket Kiosk and serve as the primary contact with Chautauqua Institution Ticket Office staff during the Summer Assembly.Develop merchandising plan to generate earned revenue from CTC, Chautauqua Opera, and Chautauqua Institution’s physical and online sales platforms.Supervise ticketing and house management of special events.Assist with updating performing arts patrons in Chautauqua’s CRM beginning in Fall 2021.Create and oversee the distribution of CTC and Chautauqua Opera season-end and other reports, as needed, with support from the Marketing and Analytics Coordinator.Other duties as assigned.About YouMust be a true marketer – identifies target patrons, formulates their message(s) development, and recommends a marketing strategy.Must be able to cultivate and implement demonstrably effective marketing and sales communications with input from the marketing team, artistic and managing directors.Exceptional writing and editing skills.Comprehensive understanding of and enthusiasm for internet culture and major social media platforms.Demonstrated ability to produce and present compelling digital and print content.Strong sales and organizational skills.Must have outstanding communication skills.Must be able to work efficiently and maintain focus in a fast-paced, creative, and unpredictable environment.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Arts Management, or a similar field, preferred.
