The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries, while strengthening the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to create and sustain high-quality health systems that can succeed without our assistance. For more information, please visit: http://www.clintonhealthaccess.org

Team Overview:

The Global Markets Team (GMT) works to address supply-side barriers to access and foster the development of a healthy marketplace. We play a leading role in managing relationships with pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies to implement strategies that unlock the revenue potential of emerging markets while meeting public health needs. Together with internal and external stakeholders, we support the development of policies and agreements that expand and accelerate access to life-saving commodities while meeting commercial goals.

Position Overview:

The Global Markets Manager for Diagnostics will lead market shaping and market dynamics activities, focusing on diseases such as HIV, TB, hepatitis C, and cervical cancer. Their primary objective will be to build, maintain, and update CHAI’s global supply-and demand-side strategy, participate in negotiations, and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to design and implement strategies to ensure sufficient supply of affordable and high-quality commodities to low- and middle-income markets. In doing so, the Manager will develop strong relationships with global and country teams within CHAI, as well as with diagnostics suppliers and key opinion leaders.

Outcomes of GMT Diagnostics work:

  • Breakthrough agreement will reduce costs and increase access to diagnostic technology for millions in low- and middle-income countries, September 2017
  • Landmark pricing deal for diagnostics to support 7 countries in initiating and expanding Hepatitis C treatment programs, May 2016
  • Catalytic partnership with Becton Dickinson to optimize access to HIV diagnostics, December 2015
  • Landmark HIV diagnostic access program will save US$150M and help achieve new global goals on HIV, September 2014

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience. Candidates with experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, consulting, and/or investment banking are highly preferred
  • Experience in strategy development, deal negotiations, and/or senior-level stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to independently operate in an unstructured but demanding multicultural environment
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and rapidly absorb/synthesize a broad range of information
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and quantitative modeling skills, plus affinity for analytics and information management
  • Experience managing complex projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Available for at least 25% travel, COVID restrictions permitting
  • Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Advantages:

  • Experience working in resource-limited settings
  • Experience in diagnostics
