Position SummaryThe Parenting Support Specialist (PPS) is responsible for the facilitation of parenting classes using the set program curriculum throughout all designated sites. The PPS will work closely with the Enhanced Parenting Program Coordinator in adjusting the curriculum as needed. The PPS will also support with education and support services for FEC parents and will assist with the coordination of family- led activities and initiatives. He/she will educate and build trust among parents, based on family support principals establishing an atmosphere of trust and mutual support where parents feel safe. He/she will also assist the Coordinator with administrative aspects of the program as well as the evaluation system for the outcomes. This position has access to sensitive Congreso information and is expected to handle such information with integrity and professionalism. This position reports to the Parenting Coordinator. Essential Functions· Facilitate and supervise educational parenting workshops and support groups for parents on a flexible schedule (including evening and possibly weekend hours) in Spanish and English.· Assist in developing the proper evaluation system to measure outcomes for parenting workshops.· Responsible for coordinating and implementing family-led initiatives and activities designed to welcome, engage, empower, and support all FEC families.· Responsible for supervising and ensuring safety of children engaged in childcare activities, as well as of older children and adolescents accompanying parents attending the Program. · Observe and monitor parents and children’s play and activities. · Conduct home visits with program participants as needed and assigned by supervisor.· Continue collaborative efforts with the fatherhood initiative and creating a more father friendly agency through collaborative efforts throughout programs.· Serve as a resource or member of the FEC Family Advisory committee and any other parent/family groups.· Network with area organizations, hospitals, daycare centers, clinics, etc. in order to identify and connect clients with appropriate community resources.· Maintain proper documentation of client records and case files according to goal plan, agency and funding guidelines.· Regularly attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, forums etc. and attend bi-weekly supervisory meetings. Non-Essential Functions· Attend relevant workshops/trainings or participates in relevant committees and task forces as related to position and program goals.· Participate in all PCM specific trainings, quality circles, and other forums, and apply the tools and approaches outlined in the PCM framework within all service delivery.· Implement Congreso’s holistic approach to client services by connecting families to multiple services within Congreso as needed to increase family supports.· Participate in assigned outreach events that may occur during after regular business hours and weekends.· Adheres to the Congreso’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information.· Completes special projects specific to the function of the department or as needed for the department as directed by supervisor.· Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations. Minimum Experience, Education, and Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree Minimum Experience· Bilingual (Spanish/English) required. · Experience providing case management or educational services to high risk and diverse client population preferred. · Experience working with adolescents and young adults preferred. · Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups required.· Knowledge of the Latino and urban community of Philadelphia. · Excellent oral and written communications skills.· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (Word & Excel).
