START DATE IS FLEXIBLE.Looking for a film or media student with interest in learning about documentary production and shooting. This is a 100% hands-on in-person position, assisting film director, David Cicconi (www.davidcicconistudio.com) in the field as he continues to shoot his documentary on food insecurity in the state of New Jersey, called FOLLOW THE FOOD (www.followthefood.us). The position requires flexibility of schedule and access to a car—gas and tolls will be compensated. We are shooting in Paterson, Atlantic City, Asbury Park, and Hunterdon County. Extensive travel within the state is a part of this position, and due to our social distancing precautions, travel in separate vehicles is a necessity. (Willing to find intern in South Jersey for South Jersey locations, and an intern for North Jersey for North Jersey locations.)Filming takes place 3-4 days per week. You will be required to rendezvous with David at designated locations, at times with only a couple of days’ notice. Assist him in carrying, assembling, using, and breaking down video and audio gear. Operate audio gear during filming. Don’t worry, it’s quite simple, and David will provide instruction. Keep track of all equipment, keep it dry, safe, and accounted for. Be David’s second set of eyes while he’s shooting. Be comfortable carrying heavy, fragile cases of gear.Candidate must be comfortable being out in the field in various locations around the state, in-doors in shops, restaurants, offices, wherever we need to shoot. We wear masks and social distance as best we can depending on the conditions of the location. But crew members are exposed to the film’s subjects and their surroundings.Technical qualifications are not a requisite. Those skills will be taught on the job. We do NOT want to deter people who do not have experience operating audio gear, but who are reliable, flexible, fast learning, curious, and passionate about filmmaking, journalism, and social justice.Primary Responsibilities.• You will be required to rendezvous with David at designated locations, at times with only a couple days’ notice.• Assist him in carrying, assembling, using, and breaking down video and audio gear.•Operate audio gear during filming.
