MPL Laboratories/EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest environmental testing firms in the United States is currently seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician for its location in Sparta, NJ. This position reports to the Assistant Group Leader of Microbiology Testing. The basic function of the Laboratory Technician position is to perform laboratory testing.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform microbiological testing on water, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, personal care products, chemicals, food, or food constituents.
Help complete sample work instructions for corresponding sample testing.
Lift and carry laboratory equipment and material such as petri dish boxes, boxes of water, laboratory soft goods, and samples.
Test samples for microbial content.
Participate in quality control activities and functions throughout the laboratory including but not limited to media and diluent negative controls.
Conduct performance checks on balances.
Participate in preventative maintenance program for laboratory equipment.
Participate in cleaning laboratory work areas, workstations, and equipment.
Participate in disposal of laboratory trash.
Empty, clean and re-fill water baths.
Clean laboratory carts.
Perform Spore Klenz RTU spraying of lab areas at end of day.
Participate in re-stocking of laboratory supplies.
Comply with safety rules and regulations.
Comply with laboratory dress code and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies.
Comply with personal hygiene and hand washing policies.
Report low inventory of supplies to vendor.
Report damaged equipment or materials to supervisor.
Attend training session
Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Help other technicians as needed.
Assist with Laboratory Assistant’s tasks as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Prior laboratory experience is a plus.
Must have excellent Oral, Written, and Technical Communication
Must have math aptitude.
Must be organized and possess the ability to plan day to day duties.
Must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Professional office attire and mannerisms.
Must have time management skills.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to climb ladders.
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., extra hours and/or weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Sunday to Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. extra hours and/or weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
