Mechanical Engineering Internship

Falstrom Company, a leader in the development and manufacturing of electronic enclosure systems for Department of Defense (DoD) programs is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the daily activities and projects of the engineering and business development teams. Activities include structural/thermal analyses and the evaluation and selection of dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis tools used in design concepts and in support of process improvement. The position will also include analysis tasks using in-house tools and engineering concepts with EXCEL and other software tools.

This position will require 20 – 32 hours per week on site at the Falstrom. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

· Thermal and structural analyses

· Detailed CAD drawings (Part and Assembly)

· Creation and revision of Bills of Materials

· Assist with Assembly Build in the production facility

· Evaluation and selection of dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis tools

· Update Falstrom website

· Additional assigned tasks by supervisor

Required Skills

Experience with the following:

Candidate must have completed at least two years of a BS Engineering (Physics, Structural, Mechanical Engineering) degree program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have sound fundamental engineering skills, calculus and have advanced working knowledge of CAD tools.

The candidate must also have advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MatLab or MathCAD, Visio, HTML and 3D CAD (Solidwork a plus). The ability to participate in a team environment is required.
