Consider being a part of the BEST and BRIGHT team.Essential Functions:The AmeriCorps Members in FSRI’s AmeriCorps Attendance Improvement Matters (AIM) Program will serve in the role of Attendance Improvement Mentors. Members will be assigned to serve in one of two elementary schools in Providence. FSRI AmeriCorps members will work with individual students and their families to improve the students’ attendance rates. The AmeriCorps members will deliver evidence-based Check and Connect interventions and serve as Walking School Bus Route Leaders. Each Member will be assigned a caseload of ten to twenty students to provide support and mentoring related to attendance, social emotional behavior; engagement with families; and provide support to students, families and school staff to help improve school attendance. Members will participate in ongoing training, have opportunities for team-building and reflection, and will be fully supported by Family Service of RI staff to ensure success.Qualifications:Have experience with and/or commitment to child and family development.A strong passion for national and community service.The desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities.Positive attitude, flexibility and adaptability.Excellent organization and communication skills.The ability to work independently and as part of a team.Interest in nonprofit organizations and/or urban education.Proven leadership and project management abilities.Previous experience, education or training in child development, human services or education is a plus but not required.Ability to speak a second language- in addition to English- is a plus, but is not required.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent US Resident.Must be age 18 or over.AmeriCorps Service Requirements:Half-time AmeriCorps members: Complete the program year (ends 6/28/19) and provide a minimum of 900 hours of documented serviceAttend all required AmeriCorps training and learning sessions including National Service Days/eventsComplete all required AmeriCorps documentationWe offer our employees a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental and work life benefits.
