The Community Outreach and Volunteer Management Intern will work directly with the Director of Outreach & Visitor Services. Interns must commit a minimum of 12 hours per week for this internship with some weekend work as necessary. Since this is an unpaid internship, interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for this experience. Please consult with your faculty advisor.
Intern duties will include developing community outreach strategies and initiatives as well as aiding in programming initiatives and museum operations. They will assist with recruiting and organizing volunteers for the museums in addition to Blueberry Festival in July and Musikfest in August. Interns will gain experience with volunteer management and communications, community outreach strategies, event planning, and sponsorship research & requests.
The successful intern will have excellent customer service and communication skills. They will exhibit an eagerness and ability to learn quickly, as well as the ability to transition from task to task in a fast-paced environment. The successful intern will be able and willing to work with members of the public of all ages.
Prior experience in communications and/or volunteer outreach is a plus, though not required.
