Internship Natural Resources, Sustainability, & Environmental ScienceExpires May 15, 2021

Due to the nature of internship duties, this is not a remote internship.

Finance and Accounting Interns will work directly with the Director of Finance. Internships duration is a minimum of one school semester, but can extend if approved by the Director of Finance. Interns are expected to commit at least 12 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Some weekend work is expected, according to special events throughout the year. Since this is an unpaid internship, interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for this experience. Please consult with your faculty advisor.

Intern duties will include filing, updating Excel spreadsheets, entering invoices and deposits into QuickBooks, preparing deposit tickets, and researching past transactions as needed. They will assist with the cash/accounting preparation for the Blueberry Festival in July. Interns will gain experience with data entry and basic accounting in a non-profit setting, and will gain skills in data entry, QuickBooks and Excel. They will also gain valuable exposure to non-profit accounting, including the concept of restricted funds.

The successful intern will be detail oriented and extremely accurate in data entry. They will be organized, and able to transition from task to task, as needed, in a fast-paced environment. The successful intern will exhibit an eagerness and ability to learn quickly, as well as the willingness to ask questions when they are uncertain.

Successful completion of accounting courses through Intermediate Accounting and a basic knowledge of Excel is required. Familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus, though not required.

Check with your Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting to determine how you might do this internship for credit.
