The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a ground water analyst for our Lewiston Regional Office. This position is responsible for all field work and data quality assurance for ground water monitoring, nitrate priority area monitoring, and source water protection efforts within the region.
This position is established at the Analyst 3 level and may be under filled at the Analyst 2 level. Upon successful completion of a training plan and when minimum qualifications for the Analyst 3 level are met, the incumbent will be reclassified to an Analyst 3 and compensated accordingly.
$22.36 – $24.00 Hourly
$46,508.80 – $49,920.00 Annually
Example of Duties:
- Responsible for implementation of ground water and source water activities.
- Provide support to programs including field work, data entry, and report writing.
- Provide monitoring for ground and source water.
- Develop ground water management plans and aquifer atlas for Lewiston Plateau ground water management area.
- Provide data analysis for ground water projects.
- Perform outreach in the community.
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in a physical or biological science, political science, business or public administration, a related natural resource management field, engineering, OR, any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a typical four (4) year Bachelor’s degree. For example: Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of study, including twenty-four (24) credited hours in a subject required for the particular degree, is equivalent to two (2) years of undergraduate education; and/or work experience performing routine activities in sampling, monitoring, surveillance, field inspection, compliance and enforcement activities for at least two (2) years can substitute for one (1) year of college. AND, a minimum of two (2) years experience performing routine duties in completing multiple tasks such as policy research, data collection, interpretation, analysis, and preparation of reports and written documents. OR Possession of a Master’s degree in any of the above fields.
Specialty Minimum Qualifications (required for this position):
- DEQ 3134 Ground Water: Education and experience in the areas of aquifer assessment, aquifer protection, ground water or surface and drinking water pollution; such as designing, reviewing or implementing any of the following: water contamination investigations, ground water remediation projects, TMDL evaluations, ground water and surface or drinking water monitoring projects. Typically met by possession of a Bachelor’s degree with coursework in either geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, environmental science, geochemistry, environmental health, environmental or civil engineering, soil science, or in a closely related field AND approximately three (3) years of full-time work experience in the areas of aquifer assessment, aquifer protection, ground water or surface and drinking water pollution; such as designing, reviewing or implementing any of the following: water contamination investigations, ground water remediation projects, TMDL evaluations, ground water and surface or drinking water monitoring projects. OR Possession of a Master’s degree in any of the previously listed fields AND approximately two (2) years of full-time work experience performing the previous examples of work.
