Interns will learn about time management and work on tasks in a fast-paced international affairs environment. The intern will support the work of IRI’s Monitoring and Evaluation Division. This position is will start on January 11, 2021 for no more than sixteen (16) weeks and may not be extended. Position Requirements· Availability to start on January 11, 2021.· Graduate degree (completed or in progress) in political science, international relations, or related field.· Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Experience with Microsoft Forms or other survey software preferred, but not required.· Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.· An interest in research and program evaluation.Primary Functions and Responsibilities· Supports M&E team with the development and implementation of MEL systems and policies.· At the direction of the relevant ELP database lead, support data quality efforts by reviewing the database for data completeness, relevance, timeliness, and other standards in accordance with donor specifications and basic MEL principles. · Supports data entry deadlines to ensure that data is collected, checked and ready for entry through proactive follow up with field teams.· Assists in the design, organization, and implementation of M&E virtual events, including webinars, trainings, and workshops.· Prepares M&E products for public consumption, including copy editing, creating data visualizations, managing references, and formatting documents.Learning Outcomes· Gain exposure to common monitoring and evaluation elements, such as developing logical frameworks, performance indicators, and data collection tools.· Gain familiarity with international democracy and governance programming.· Gain experience with data management, including data cleaning and quality assurance procedures.
