Candidates must be accepted into one of the Graduate Programs here at Lander University prior to beginning the position.
Compensation: Selected candidate will receive a 50% tuition and fee waiver as well as a $3000 stipend per semester. Note that if the GA position does not relate directly to their graduate studies the student will be taxed on the stipend and tuition benefits. Graduate Assistants work approximately 20 hours per week during the school year. Graduate Assistantships may be renewed for one additional year.
GA Primary Responsibilities:
- Representing Lander University enrollment and recruiting fairs within the community. (i.e. churches, expo fairs, festivals)
- Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective students and their families in an effort to promote Lander University and its programs
- Facilitate Group Tour Presentations
- Create and maintain a school counselor directory for SC and beyond.
The Office of Admissions receives many invitations to attend community events. Many times we are actively looking for someone to assist us in attending some of these events. A Graduate Assistant could take responsibility of all community events, assist us in facilitating group tours and compiling a database for all South Carolina schools.
