Starting this semester, you don’t need to settle for just another “get-by” part-time job!
We’re looking for assistant instructors with a passion for hands-on learning and a curiosity about technology to help guide our elementary and middle-school students (K-8) in our LEGO Robotics, video game-making, website building and/or electronics-invention enrichment labs.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NOT NECESSARY as we will provide you with training. Liberal Arts or Social Science majors should not be scared off if they have a curious mind and the confident, patient good humor to guide our students through “figuring it out.”
This is a great part-time, afternoon position for an UNDERGRADUATE or GRAD STUDENT, possibly majoring in developmental psychology, education, the sciences, communications, engineering or similar concentration. In fact, many of our best after-school lab instructors continue on with us at our summer camp programs and beyond!
Our after-school learning-through-doing labs focus on our students (ages 5-14), as they actively engage both individually and in small groups in building their own range of robotic, mobile app or video-game/interactive story creations while developing greater knowledge of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) subjects— REAL Hands-on Discovery, REAL Fun!
As an Assistant Instructor you will be expected to do the following:
+ Assist the lead instructor in providing a well-managed, high-energy, big-fun learning lab environment for elementary/middle school-age children (K-8);
+ After training, be able to provide each of our students with guidance on working through the various concepts within our curriculum;
+ Have a passion for LEGO building, mobile apps, video gaming, creative electronics, etc. . .;
+ Interact with parents before and after labs; and
+ Maintain all materials necessary for the teaching of each lab.
Labs are held after school Monday-Friday (2:30 pm- 6 p.m.)– and Saturdays, too! We’ll consider you as a candidate if you are available at least two afternoons each week.
You’ll need your own reliable transportation as most of our labs are hosted
