US-NM-Albuquerque Type Full-time Division Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute (LBRI)
Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Research Technologist within the Physiology group.
The Research Technologist will serve as a key staff member in the implementation and conduct of studies related to physiology, infectious disease, immunology, gene therapy, and other types of studies. Additionally, the Research Technologist will be responsible for aspects of planning/coordinating, implementation of procedures, assays, and the generation and analysis of data. The Research Technologist will be partially responsible for the performance of multiple different concurrent scientific projects simultaneously in BSL-1, BSL-2, and BSL-3 (pending training) laboratories, including work with laboratory animals. This position is also responsible for following regulatory compliance (FDA, GLP, ES&H, AWA, USDA, etc.), and interfacing with staff and investigators who utilize this lab, and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

The position may require occasionally weekend shifts and working beyond a 40-hour week.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline or with comparable course work and four (4) years of directly-related research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Candidate must have experience in the laboratory setting, including both in vitro and in vivo assessments. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a regulatory environment. Experience with physiological measurements, tissue processing, animal handling, and other laboratory procedures is strongly desired.
Requires a demonstrated understanding of research methodology, principles, and procedures. Must have the ability to successfully perform a variety of laboratory procedures using standard laboratory equipment and instruments. Must have the ability to gather, analyze and report data.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Candidates must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and wear a respirator. A Post-offer physical and background check are required. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
