The Institute for the Study of Resilience in Youth (ISRY) is a research institute located at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Through conducting and disseminating research and evaluation, ISRY supports the well-being of young people and the adults who support them. In order to bridge the resource gap in high-poverty and other underserved communities, our team creates evidence-based tools and frameworks to inform educators and education leaders about the social-emotional development and mental health of their students.
ISRY develops innovative ideas, theories, and research methods in collaboration with communities. The Institute prioritizes translational research and practical, evidence-based tools. ISRY’s focus on social-emotional development (SED) and STEM encompasses formal and informal education settings, professional development, and family support. The Institute trains future researchers, clinicians and other practitioners specializing in resiliency and contributes to the knowledge base of the fields of mental health, social-emotional resilience, and learning.
