Intern – Electrical or Mechanical Engineer IntroductionMerrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical or Mechanical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2021 at our Chattanooga, TN office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August. There is a possibility that this position could start part-time before May and could potentially go part-time after August as well. Job Description The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity, to gain an understanding of project execution, strengthen team skills, and gain technical experience in the field of mechanical and electrical and instrumentation and control (EI&C) engineering. The intern will be exposed to a variety of EI&C and mechanical engineering items potentially including: detailed power generation design, AutoCAD drafting, electrical voltage drop, short circuit and arc flash calculations, power systems analysis in ETAP, protective relaying programming, communication systems and components, sizing of mechanical commercial components, stress analysis of components, piping systems, HVAC/Facilities design, industry codes and standards, and power utilities’ design change procedures . The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve. Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. Students who have recently graduated will not be considered.
