Intern – Geographical Information Systems IntroductionMerrick & Company is seeking a GIS Technician student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2021 at our Tucker, GA project office. Job Description The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) processing. Our intern will be What? The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve. Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. Students who have recently graduated will not be considered. Required ExperienceMust be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of degree programMust be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a similar majorKnowledge and/or courses in mapping, photogrammetry, and aerial LiDAR data processing including:Flight planningData managementPrinciples of GeodesyGISOrthophoto productionCartographic designCollege courses in any of the following software packages are preferred:LiDAR processing software (MARS®, Terrasolid, other)ESRI ArcGISTrimble INPHOMust have a demonstrable good attendance recordGPA of 3.0 or higher preferredMust have a current instructor recommendation or referenceLocal candidates onlyStudents who have recently graduated will not be considered.
