Minding Your Mind is actively seeking to add to our group of speakers in MA, CT, RI, Fl, NJ, NY, and DE. If you are a young adult who has come through a mental health crisis, are in a productive recovery process, and are interested in sharing your story to inspire others, please contact us.
Position Description: Share your experience of your mental health struggle and resilience with middle school and high school students. Through a comprehensive and supportive training process speakers develop a thorough and personal presentation to share with students and parents with the goal of reducing stigma around mental health and encouraging help-seeking behaviors. These stories often include experiences with anxiety, depression, self-harm, disordered eating, bullying, perfectionism, suicide ideation and attempts, gender expression and sexual orientation, and substance use.
Presentations are delivered to students during the day, parents/caregivers in the evening and on weekends. Successful speakers are able to work around a college class schedule, other part-time work, or are seeking flexible employment.
Must be in a productive recovery process with toolbox of skills.
Willing to share your story publicly.
Have a flexible schedule to meet the needs of schools and community groups.
Reliable internet connection and/or able to travel to school locations. Speakers are required to arrange for their own transportation.
Live in/around locations identified above. Location flexible as you will be traveling throughout your area (not going to an office regularly) or working remotely.
Compensation: $300/assembly. $100/health class. Max of $600/day.
