The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) provides an opportunity for college students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer. The goals of NREIP are to encourage participating college students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN.NREIP is providing competitive research internships to approximately 800 college students this year. Participating students spend ten weeks during the summer conducting research at 45 DoN laboratories.COVID UpdateThe Department of Navy and Marine Corps remains committed to providing enriching internship opportunities, but due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, at this time we cannot guarantee that the summer 2021 program will take place in-person at the ONR labs. We are currently planning next summer as an in-person program, but students should be aware that the program may be shifted to a virtual program at any time between now and summer 2021.We are actively monitoring the developing situation surrounding the spread of COVID-19. There is also a chance that the lab that selected you may not be able to participate in a digital/virtual setting and if that becomes the case, ONR and ASEE will work with you to find an acceptable alternative lab for you summer internship. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding during this time. We look forward to reviewing your application. This is a 1099 position.
