The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) advances the quality of life for New Jersey residents and communities throughout the Garden State by investing in, financing, and facilitating access to affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income families, older adults, and individuals with specialized housing needs.
The NJHMFA is offering rising college seniors, recent graduates and graduate students the opportunity to serve an internship during the fall of 2021. NJHMFA internships offer students who may be interested in state government the opportunity to gain valuable experience, knowledge and insight into the realm of affordable housing in New Jersey. Interns will be supervised and coached as they perform a full range of functions, including but not limited to, assisting in the development and implementation of programs, conducting research, performing financial analyses and collecting project data, participating in special projects and writing and reviewing policy. Such experience will expose the students to housing and finance issues and the professional standards of the organization.
The chosen candidate(s) will receive $15.00/hour with a minimum of fifteen hours and up to a maximum of twenty hours per week is required. Strong writing and analytical skill are a must. Interested applicants must submit a resume and cover letter in addition to a writing sample. The cover letter should include a brief introduction about the student and an explanation of why he/she would be interested in working in housing and/or state government. Candidates should also include the dates and times of availability.
