Newark Academy is seeking a professional to serve in the role of Media Support Specialist. The successful candidate will promote and facilitate all aspects of the Information Technology Department’s service-oriented mission, with primary responsibility for audio-visual systems and equipment.
Reports to: Director of Information Technology
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with event organizers to ensure that A/V equipment is ready for use ahead of time, provide support during the event, and ensure that equipment is returned and stored properly at the conclusion of the event; manage support requests in the school’s event management system (FMX)
- Staff the Circulation Desk / Technology Help Desk as an initial point of contact for all constituents; monitor the ticketing system to record, update, escalate, and resolve tickets in a timely manner
- Train student and faculty operators on effective use of A/V systems in classrooms, meeting spaces, and the auditorium; conduct in-person training for individuals and groups
- Create and update online support documentation; foster a culture of empowered self-help and troubleshooting
- Manage equipment checkout system, including laptops, cameras, audio systems, and other peripherals; assist with maintaining accurate databases of hardware inventory, maintenance, and software installation
- Assist with daily library operations, including reference, circulation, cataloging, and collection development; promote a balanced, current collection of print and digital resources that supports and enhances the curriculum
- Oversee an inviting environment in the library that provides spaces for both collaboration and quiet study; assist with initiatives that further the growth of the school’s technology and media services program
- Assist with the provisioning, deployment and maintenance of technology devices, such as laptops, iPads, and cameras
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, information science or related field (preferred)
- 2-3 years of related experience, preferably in an educational setting
- Experience working with and supporting a diverse community of students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong customer service orientation; tactful, patient, and courteous
- Demonstrated time management skills; ability to prioritize support requests, work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision, and escalate support requests as necessary to ensure that all issues are resolved within acceptable timeframes
- Exemplary attention to detail and strong organizational skills; ability to correlate multiple issues and identify systematic problems
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the proven ability to work with a variety of constituents; ability to explain technical details to users at various levels of comfort and expertise
- Experience with vocal and instrument microphones and wireless microphone systems; ability to troubleshoot analog and digital audio and video issues
- Familiarity with macOS and iOS software and devices, Google Suite, and Zoom
- Knowledge of, and interest in, trends in media and technology
- Availability to work before and after school, evenings and occasionally on weekends
