Emergency Medical Dispatchers take 9-1-1/Emergency, non-emergency medical transportation requests, administrative calls as well as dispatch out EMS, Rescue, Mobile Health and allied health professional calls for service using a computer-aided dispatch system and radios.
Being a dispatcher is professionally rewarding and an entry into public safety professions such as EMS, fire services or law enforcement. Our dispatchers work out of a County 9-1-1 Public Safety Operations Center, using state of the art technology in a safe and controlled environment.
Successful applicants must have certification in CPR (health care provider level), Emergency Medical Dispatcher and 9-1-1 Basic Telecommunicator by their start of employment date. Background or work history as an EMT is preferred, but not required. Fluency in English is required.
Full-time (36 hours a week on a 12-hour schedule) and part-time (12-24 hours a week on a 12-hour schedule) positions are available. Full-time positions include a variety of benefits including 15 days of paid time-off and 100% employer covered health care.
