The Construction Engineering Research Laboratory develops and infuses innovative technologies to provide excellent facilities and realistic training lands for the Department of Defense (DOD). Products and services from CERL research enhance the Army’s ability to design, build, operate and maintain its installations and contingency bases and to ensure environmental quality at the lowest life-cycle cost. Excellent facilities support the Army’s training, readiness, mobilization and sustainability missions. An adequate infrastructure and realistic training lands are critical assets to installations in carrying out their military mission.
Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant will have the opportunity to learn about the web based software application BUILDER. This research experience includes observation of various processes of the application to include business communications, trade journal articles, web site upkeep processes, updating software feature content, product documentation of new developments, and writing of technical reports by current SMS TCX team researchers. The participant will participate in creating Project Order developing videos and training materials for the web-based software application.
Length of Appointment
This ORISE appointment is for a 12-month period. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.
Participant Benefits
Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by ERDC-CERL. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment
The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.
Qualifications
Participant should have a strong communications background, with familiarity and focus with general business communications, social media, trade journal articles, public affairs, web site upkeep, software help, feature contents, product documentation, and technical reports.

- Degree: High School Diploma/GED, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree received within the last 60 months or currently pursuing.
