The Unit Clerk must be able to multi-task with the highest level of customer service. Will be responsible for answering phones, filing, gathering information, answering questions from patients/relatives, and informing Nurses and or Physicians of critical information. Duties include: performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area. Maintaining assignment board. Filing forms/reports in char and maintain all charting and recording in consistent and accurate order. Performs transcription function efficiently, accurately, and consistently. Refers verbal orders from Physicians to Registered Nurses. Complies with new charts, maintains currents, and enters patient information upon request on charts.
The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Post-high school education, which includes computer courses and medical terminology, preferred. Previous hospital experience preferred. Unit Clerk experience is a plus.
