Magazine – Assistant/Associate NEW YORK CITY Content Curator – Readers’ Calendar -VOLUNTEER

Check with your Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting to determine how you might do this internship for credit.

– 5 hours/week for Assistant Position and 10 hours/week for Associate Position

Picture This Post magazine, www.picturethispost.com, alerts time-strapped readers to cultural offerings that are the best match for their interests in art, books, dance, film, museums, music, theater, as well as travel with a focus on culture. We not only cover culture creators and venues with high name recognition, but also delight in helping to showcase bold, creative strokes by fledgling artists in all genres.

The Assistant Content Curator for the Readers’ Calendar in NEW YORK CITY will have both a short-term focus geared toward pandemic times—streamed content originating in NEW YORK CITY and accessible worldwide—and a long-term focus on developing a NEW YORK CITY database of culture creators in the magazine’s interest areas for when live, indoor events are reinitiated in post-pandemic times.

As Assistant Content Curator for the Readers’ Calendar, your role will include: creating databases for entities such as art galleries, bookstores, festivals, museums, performance venues, public entities, and nonprofits that sponsor cultural events, etc.; networking with these entities to identify any/all streamed content events and establishing connections for when venues are fully reopened; and conducting demos via Zoom to appropriate contacts on how to use the Picture This Post READERS’ CALENDAR automation that will be available around Labor Day 2020.

Associate Content Curator for the Readers’ Calendar, in addition to the above, would include content creating and editing of preview articles linked to the Readers’ Calendar.

Your responsibilities, for either position, will also include submitting weekly reports to the Editor-in-Chief as well as your upcoming weekly schedule projections.

Please Note: ALL Picture This Post editors and writers are volunteers—from top to bottom. There is not a paid internship opportunity

Time commitment for the Assistant Editor position is 5 hours/week per semester.

Associate Editor is 10 hours/ week—in all cases, except for weeks needing time-off to study for exams and other school/life priorities, pre-arranged with the Editor-in-Chief.

This position is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about NEW YORK CITY’S cultural scene. You will also learn how to use commercial information systems available to journalists, online monitoring tools such as Google Alerts, and how to network via social media.
