The Individual Support Counselor works as part of a team to provide direct supports, guidance, education, advocacy and supervision for individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities.
The Individual Support Counselor helps individuals live safely in the community, maintain their physical and emotional health, foster relationships with family and community to develop the skills necessary to increase the individual’s independence. Interaction between staff and individuals will reflect an appreciation of each individual’s uniqueness with the expectation and goal of mutual learning and growth.
The catchment area is Norwood/Walpole Area.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9am-2pm (20 hours)
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate in and comprehend the English language, including clearly documenting individual progress and activities in program records
- Ability to work as a member of a team and to function independently
- Valid driver’s license and access to dependable transportation
Required Experience
- High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred
