Programming Assistant II
VPVA is seeking a responsible and dedicated student to serve in the capacity of a student worker. This worker will provide social media content creation, programming, office (remote when necessary) and text-based support in the areas of violence prevention and victim/survivor support. This position is for 12 hours a week. The student must be graduating Spring 2022 or later.
VPVA works to eradicate violence from the RUN campus; specifically, sexual violence, partner violence, stalking and harassment. We work to create safe spaces for students to share their experiences, validate and help them navigate a path to healing. VPVA specializes in trauma informed care and treatment. All staff members are trained in crisis response, trauma-informed language and care, and a variety of mental health issues to support students.
Our programming focuses on breaking down healthy relationships, having open, honest and raw conversations about violence, gender, sexuality and other factors that are at the root cause of power-based personal violence. This candidate MUST have a familiarity and a comfort level discussing sex, an understanding of prevention, and strong roots in advocacy.
Responsible for ongoing promotion of VPVA office through student engagement, event attendance, and tabling activities. Virtually, this positon will be heavily online, creating social media posts, tracking analytics on social media platforms, connecting with other student orgs and departments for co-sponsorship on events, and working with the other staff members to create engaging virtual programming. This position will be responsible for co-facilitation of virtual events (student panels, webinars, Instagram Live events, etc), at times taking the role of the only facilitator for student led events.
Will assist with facilitation of prevention programming including but not limited to: Men’s Engagement, Healthy Relationship Workshops, We Speak Upstander trainings, Awareness Months (April and October), and other relevant topics.
Primary responsibilities include:
– Facilitating presentations with Prevention Education Coordinator and other staff
– Assisting with curriculum/workshop content creation
– Engaging with students/staff/faculty to promote program and encourage collaboration
– Organizing volunteers at tabling and other events
– Coordinating with Social Media Coordinator with fresh Talk It Out topics
– Assisting with evaluation and assessment from programming
– Attending events, trainings, tablings, and providing hands on support
Programming Assistant will work with large scale events and be flexible to attend tabling or presentations/events as needed. There will be some evening events; webinars, programming, etc, and Programming Assistant will help as their schedule allows.
This role requires training to learn how to be a Peer Educator. This role will also require the employee to take shifts on the We Chat text-based helpline and attend all trainings associated with their role at VPVA.
