The Work-Study Program at Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program is an opportunity for students, artists and craftspeople (ages 18+) to work at Snow Farm in various capacities in exchange for tuition-free workshops, housing, and meals when the dining hall is open. The Fall Program runs from September – November for 7-8 weeks, with some flexibility in the start and end dates.
Work-study participants will be assigned to assist Snow Farm staff in a variety of departments. The Work-Study position is full-time including weekends and evenings. Hours will be scheduled to impact workshop participation as minimally as possible. Work-study participants will be asked to pitch-in wherever help is needed during the busy workshop season. Assignments may include:
· Greeting guests and helping with check-in
· Working in the kitchen
· Doing housekeeping
· Taking pictures and posting on Facebook/Instagram
· Assisting with digital presentations
· Working in the office
· Restocking studios
· Gardening, pruning
Successful candidates will acclimate quickly; have a positive, flexible attitude; work efficiently and independently; be able to lift and carry boxes/supplies; connect well with people, and have a sense of humor! Experience in one of our studios is desired (2D/mixed media, ceramics, glassblowing, kiln/stained glass, flameworking, fiber/baskets, mosaics, metalsmithing/jewelry, woodworking and welding).
Work-study participants will be offered a chance to take Snow Farm workshops when space is available. In the case of longer workshops during the week, work tasks can be done before and/or after the class. As a student, participants will be expected to pay a supply fee at the time of the workshop.
