Fellowships Arts, Media, & EntertainmentExpires February 1, 2021

Steinman Fellows is an immersive, two-year journalism program at LNP l LancasterOnline, one of Pennsylvania’s most robust and fast-paced community newsrooms. The mission of the Steinman Fellows program – sponsored by The Steinman Foundation – is to foster the professional development of emerging journalists for the broader industry by asking them to pursue stories on underserved segments of the Lancaster County community.

Watchdog journalism is LNP’s calling card and the staff wants to share that experience with two outstanding candidates focused on their futures in journalism with this endeavor.

The selected journalists work as reporters, photographers and videographers across digital and print platforms. Applicants should have familiarity with working in the journalism field, but this experience can come from a school newspaper, volunteer position or elsewhere.

Our fellows will receive oversight and guidance from veteran journalists and be afforded the time and opportunity to dig deep on some of the largest issues affecting the quality of life in our community: the lack of access to a good education, housing, infrastructure, health care and clean and safe drinking water. They will also be trained in the use of digital reporting tools.

The Steinman Fellows will work closely with other LNP Media Group properties, such as Lancaster Farming, the dominant source of agricultural news and information for the mid-Atlantic, and The Caucus, a watchdog newspaper that investigates Pennsylvania state government.

While known nationally for its Amish population, Lancaster County is also home to refugees from more than 10 countries, and residents from 26 different nations who have completed their naturalization ceremony to become citizens of the United States.

Through the Steinman Fellows program, LNP and LNP Media Group publications will be able to provide a more diverse journalistic voice that speaks to their needs, and the needs of an ever-diversifying Lancaster County.
