5G Technology Strategy Intern 1
The intern will be required to research and understand the programing and operation of a software defined radio (SDR). In the process, he/she will learn 3GPP standards for LTE/5G and related signaling. The tools used are based on the Linux operating system, including compilers, text editors, and integrated development environment (IDE). In addition to applying coding skills, the intern will use, and possibly broaden, their knowledge of radio architecture.
The skills requirements include:
1. BSEE or CS graduate currently in an MS/PhD Engineering program (PhD preferred)
2. Ability to read and create code in C and C++
3. Familiarity with common compilers, e.g. GCC
4. Familiarity with Linux and the use of IDEs
5. Exposure to Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)
6. Exposure to PHY layer signaling
7. High level understanding, or strong desire to learn about, radio architecture, signal creation, and propagation
5G Technology RAN Strategy Intern 2
The intern will assist in running Proof-of-Concept technology and AI/ML trials with novel RAN platforms in the research labs in Overland Park, Kansas and/or Reston, Virginia. The trials will involve CU/DU/RU integration activities and fronthaul testing. In addition, AI/ML applications (xApps and rApps) may be tested and validated on these platforms.
The skill requirements include:
1. BSEE graduate currently in an MS/PhD Engineering program (PhD preferred)
2. System knowledge of cellular technologies, radio access networks, and virtualized platforms
3. Prior experience with LTE device/RAN testing preferred
4. Experience with RF test tools preferred
5. Log analysis and troubleshooting experience preferred.
6. Knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning models a plus
7. Some coding and software development skills a plus
5G Technology Strategy Intern 3
The Intern will assist in RF modeling and/or conducting fixed wireless and wireless backhaul trials in mmWave bands. Tasks would include using MATLAB/Atoll (or equivalent tools) to create wireless network system models and validate/model tune using field trials. Our intern student will assist in developing and enhancing new 5G RF system models to analyze the system performance.
The skills requirements include:
1. BSEE graduate currently in an MS/PhD Engineering program (PhD preferred)
2. Knowledge of wireless technologies
3. Experience with RF test tools and log analysis
4. Working knowledge of Python and other scripting languages
5. Prior log analysis and troubleshooting experience preferred
6. Strong background in MATLAB toolboxes and MATLAB programming
7. Strong background in RF channel modeling
8. Knowledge in RF antenna array, propagation, LTE and 5G MATLAB toolboxes
