Online Content Editor
Help us cover the pandemic. Healio News is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Online Content Editor for Infectious Disease News — an award-winning health care publication that provides in-depth coverage of major developments in the exciting field of infectious diseases, including outbreaks, advances in public health and infection control, the latest scientific research, and industry and legislative updates. The OCE is responsible for producing timely, accurate and relevant content for our physician (or other health care provider) audience for posting on Healio.com and inclusion in the monthly print issue of Infectious Disease News, and for posting stories online, putting together our daily email newswires, and monitoring our traffic using various analytics tools.
As the OCE for Infectious Disease News, you will cover research and news related to antimicrobial resistance, HIV, flu, STDs, vaccination, zoonotic infections, and emerging diseases, among other subspecialties in infectious diseases. Sometimes you will be asked to write longer features on major issues impacting the field — for example, vaccine hesitancy. Has the CDC scheduled a telebriefing with reporters about the pandemic? You will be on the call. The OCE should be prepared to speak daily with leaders in the field to get reaction to the stories they are writing, or the research they are reporting on. We have developed relationships with a long list of key opinion leaders (KOLs) — come cultivate more.
Other responsibilities include managing social media and traveling to help cover major medical conferences. Qualified candidates must have strong writing skills, familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) and web analytics. Proven experience with social media, health care communications and digital technologies is a plus. Other requirements include a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or a related field and a desire to work within a fast-paced news environment with a dedicated team of writers and editors. Position requires travel.
Remote candidates are encouraged to apply.
