Office of Workforce Investment (OWI) is responsible for implementing an integrated national workforce system that supports economic growth and provides workers with the information, advice, job search assistance, income maintenance, and training needed to get and keep good jobs.

Manage program operations of assigned unit; implement policies and plans, direct activities to meet requirements of assigned programs; and/or makes significant contributions to the development of policy. Assist in preparation of budget, legislative, evaluation, and service delivery contracts and training agreements.
Plan and direct work of subordinates, set and adjust priorities and establish deadlines for completion of work. Assign work to subordinates based on knowledge and skill levels, priorities, difficulty and other requirements of assignments. Develop and or assist in the development of performance standards and evaluating subordinate performance. Provide instruction, advice or counsel to subordinates on both work related and administrative issues. Hear and resolve complaints from employees. Issue minor disciplinary actions, including oral and written warnings and reprimands, and recommending action to superiors in more serious cases. Identify training needs of employees, provide or arrange for necessary developmental opportunities
Apply expertise working with various populations, and depending on the focus of the unit’s program(s), may apply expertise in designing, delivering or overseeing programs serving youth, dislocated workers and long-term unemployed, low-income individuals, older workers, Native Americans, people with disabilities, individuals involved in the justice system, farmworkers, and/or other targeted populations.
Serve as the principal point of contact with high-level officials, including state agencies, other Federal agencies, and intergovernmental organizations, regarding the programs and initiatives assigned; provide technical program support for National Office and Regional Office projects.
Occasional travel – May be required to travel 10% of each month.
