United Way of Weld County opened a Housing Navigation Center in April 2019. The Housing Navigation Center, located in Greeley/Evans, Colorado, works with nonprofit partners, faith congregations, community members, and government entities to enact a Housing First model to address the root causes of homelessness in Weld County. The Housing Navigation Center is a physical location that helps those experiencing homelessness regain housing and prevents those at-risk from losing housing. This project is a part of Weld’s Way Home, which is United Way of Weld County’s initiative to address and prevent homelessness county-wide. As a Housing First initiative, all of the work of Weld’s Way Home focuses on finding stable and affordable housing for vulnerable community members. The Housing Navigation Center is a core aspect of Weld’s Way Home. This VISTA position will help to ensure the success of the Housing Navigation Center by creating and expanding programming as well as helping recruit volunteers to handle the work of the Center. This position is perfect for anyone interested in human services, nonprofit management, and program development and coordination. The City of Greeley is situated in the Northeastern Front Range of Colorado and continues to experience growth and development. Every year, Greeley is home to the “Greeley Stampede” Rodeo, the “Blues Jam” music festival, the Greeley Arts Picnic, and “Friday Fest”, a free outdoor concert hosted weekly throughout the summer.
Member Duties : The Housing Navigation Center VISTA will help to build programmatic and financial capacity of the Housing Navigation Center though community outreach, volunteer engagement, program development, and fundraising. Member duties include:
1.) Work to execute, advertise, and do outreach for new programming that has been developed and planned for as a necessity to help move households from homelessness/household instability to rehoused/stable.
2). Research, develop and implement a data/tracking method for the Center,
3). Develop a volunteer engagement plan,
4.) Develop pilot program to engage landlords
5.) Coordinate community outreach meetings,
6.) Develop and strengthen programs to engage the faith community,
7.) Develop a fundraising plan,
8.) Research and write grants,
9.) Other duties as assigned.
