WJCS is currently seeking Virtual Mentors for the Digital Equity Project. The Virtual Mentor will report directly to the Education Coach of the Virtual Mentoring Program. The Virtual Mentor will serve as a 1:1 mentor paired with children in grades 1-8, meeting on a weekly basis to supplement the child’s education through the abundant resources of online learning and homework support. The Virtual Mentor will provide online support to improve the mentee’s skills in digital fluency and establish routines; provide a connection through an adult mentor relationship; complete session notes for all scheduled sessions on a weekly basis. The Virtual Mentor is also responsible for participating in any required training sessions or meetings with the Education Coach to improve mentoring work; attend weekly mentor meetings with the Virtual Mentoring Team and communicate directly with the Education Coach regarding questions or challenges in order to best serve the student.
The selected candidate must have strong communication, written and oral skills; experience working with children is preferred. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is a plus.
