About the Paid Search TeamYou will be part of the data-driven Digital Marketing Team responsible for the in-house management of all paid digital advertising. You will lead the Paid Search Team directly managing Paid Search, Product Listing Ads/Google Shopping, and Pinterest account strategies and executing day to day tactics to increase revenue, site traffic, and conversion and maximize return on ad spend across all 8 Williams-Sonoma Inc. Overview of the Director, SEM roleWilliams-Sonoma, Inc. is looking for an experienced Director to lead the Paid Search Team and set the strategy and ensure the proper execution of all WSI’s portfolio of Paid Search, Shopping, and Pinterest campaigns. Candidates must have extensive hands-on-keys experience and will leverage these skills to develop near and long-term strategies to increase incremental sales, site traffic, and ROI. There is a heavy focus on operations, vendor/tool management, weekly budget management including revenue, spend, and traffic forecasts, and analysis of data and communication of trends/insights. The role will lead the relationship with the bid management software provider and search engines to ensure WSI stays at the forefront of innovation, testing, and optimization. The Director is responsible for the team’s organizational design and directly oversees the performance and career development of a Manager and 2-3 Analysts. This position reports to the SVP of Digital Advertising. Experience in retail preferred. ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, management, and execution of all WSI SEM /PPC, Shopping, and Pinterest campaigns, including but not limited to account setup, development and implementation of strategies, campaign structure, budget management, daily bidding, and invoice managementLead the team to achieve targeted performance KPIs (ad cost, revenue, sales, traffic) and provide assistance including optimizations and campaign troubleshootingClosely manage project plans, new build launch dates, and delivery timelines to ensure each team member is delivering on schedule and supporting the Brands’ seasonal drops and initiativesEnsure weekly and monthly paid search performance reports are delivered to Marketing and Brand partners accurately and on time, and lead the creation and development of reporting as new strategies are introducedLead the relationship with search engines and social platform to optimize performance and stay educated on new opportunities, ensuring WSI is part of alphas & betasLead the relationship with bid management software provider and other partners to optimize campaigns and help inform their product roadmap based on WSI needs, including rolling out new enhancements to support WSI initiatives. Lead contract negotiationsDevelop strategy and work with team to implement tests/ participate in betas, report out on results and develop recommendations for roll-outUnderstand in depth account set up, execution and implementation of strategies and testingAct as the technical lead for the Search team with respect to Product data-feeds and program tracking, as well as setting up integration with reporting platformsLead incrementality testing and optimization collaborating with Data Science team & vendorsCollaborate with Customer Analytics on advanced analyses and support Marketing team with ad hoc analysis and reportingLead collaboration among digital leaders across Paid Social, Display, and Content to share best practices and ensure comprehensive marketing plansStay ahead of the latest developments in the search engines, the digital marketing landscape, and industry technologyAct as the WSI subject matter expert in SEM and Shopping industry trends and best practices and educate relevant WSI teams by sharing information across different levels within the organization, including leading training and 101 sessions and executive-level meetingsAccountable for all People management activities, including setting the standards for objectives and reviews, talent acquisition and retention, performance management, feedback, coaching and development of an effective teamDirectly manage the work and career development of the Manager and 2-3 Analysts, providing direction and feedback Criteria8-10 years minimum experience with a focus in SEM/PLA campaign managementBS/BAPaid Search Retail experienceProven ability to lead and develop high performing teamsSEM/PLA bid management platform expertise required: Kenshoo (preferred), Marin Software, DS3Google AdWords professional (GAP) and other SEM platforms certifiedAdvanced MS Excel skills and a passion for data driven marketing. Including vlookups, Hlookups, pivot tables, macrosStrong technical ability with proven experience managing search campaigns and keyword-related analytics to drive insightsConfidence with analyzing large data sets and making recommendations and developing and executing strategies from findings to all levels of managementExcellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to synthesize technical detail and communicate across the organizationKnowledge of a site analytics tool and experience working with third party reporting platforms such as Domo or TableauWell-organized, high attention to detail, deadline-orientedAble to work independently and enjoys working with others as part of a teamEntrepreneurial spirit and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to perform work onsite in the (San Francisco, Rocklin, Portland, New York, San Jose) office full-time pending state, local, and Company return-to-work guidance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
