Written Out Loud teaches the craft of storytelling to kids 7-17 by teaching them the age-old storytelling tools and techniques buried inside their favorite books, shows, movies, musicals, and plays. Our classes are all taught via Zoom. We are now interviewing “story directors” to teach small classes of 4-6 kids this fall.
A story director must have a comprehensive knowledge of kid-friendly books and shows, especially Harry Potter, Hamilton, Marvel/MCU, Percy Jackson, Star Wars, etc. Furthermore, directors must be able to speak to the underlying story structure within these stories, i.e. Campbell’s Hero’s Journey steps, hallmarks of character development, etc. Most importantly, our story directors must have a joyful, positive, infectious spirit around and with children ages 7-17 – story knowledge is critical but an infectious geeky love for teaching young people is the most important qualification. Recent and current education students wanted – the more enthusiastic and collaborative, the better. Likely 2-10 hours/week, all remote. Compensation $33/hr.
