KGWN NewsChannel 5 is seeking an experienced Weather Anchor/MMJ to join our award-winning news team at our studios in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The right person will produce and anchor our evening weather forecasts. Must be organized, self-starter who comes up with his/her own content for daily coverage. This position is for a person with a lot of energy and love of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
– Provide comprehensive weather coverage during severe weather events
– Produce content for the station’s web page and social media outlets
– AMS and/or NWA Certified preferred
– Familiar with WSI services
– Possess strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
– Computer literate and technically oriented
– Self-motivated, and a fast learner
– A degree in meteorology, climatology or atmospheric science is preferred
– Must have skills in the operation of computerized weather presentation systems, especially WSI
– Candidates must be professional, personable and confident
– Degree in broadcast journalism
– Anchor experience (college experience accepted)
